MARYANN JO SARTINI

Maryann Jo Sartini graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1998 acquiring a Bachelor of Science degree in Textiles, Merchandising & Design. She combined her love of animals and wool, and in 2001 she began creating needle felted sculptures. Her passion for all creatures great & small allows her to create animals & dolls of her memories & imagination, along with people’s favorite pets.

Maryann and her husband Charlie retired to Canada six years ago to begin the second phase of their lives. They fell in love with and purchased a home and parcel of land on the Kingston Peninsula. Hailing from New England, they owned & raised Romney Marsh sheep. All of the beautiful fibre followed them north and Northern Woolies were born.

Eight years later, a cold Canadian wind blew them south to a little log cabin on mountain in Tennessee. The Northern Woolies have become the Tin Roof Woolies - a collection of miniature pets, folk art caricatures, and Santas.
